Webster ElementaryGreen Bay, Wisconsin We are second graders at an elementary school in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Green Bay is a small city with 100,000 people. At our school we have about 350 students from early childhood (3 year olds) to 5th grade.. We have two second grade classes at our school. We start school at 8:30 and end at 3:00. http://www.greenbay.k12.wi.us/webster/
We have many different Christmas traditions in our families. Here are some of them!
- Some of us hide a pickle on the Christmas tree. Whoever finds the pickle gets to open presents first. This is a German tradition.
- Clues are put on the Christmas presents and the kids guess whose present it is. - We decorate Christmas trees with a bow, star, angel, spire, or another special ornament on top. - We bake and decorate Christmas cookies with family members. We make cut out cookies and candy. -We decorate our houses with lights on the outside of the house. Some of us decorate with lights inside the house too. - Many of us have Advent calendar and Advent wreaths or logs. - We go to Grandma’s or another family member’s house to eat a special dinner. - We open presents on Christmas Day. Some of us open presents on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day. - We have Winter Break from school between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. During this time many of us like to play in the snow. We go sledding, make snowmen or snow forts, go skiing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, make snow angels, and have snowball fights. This year is unusual because we don't have any snow yet! - This year on Christmas Day many of us will be watching the Green Bay Packers game.
